Who am I to do this...

Hey, it is Anette here.

Inside the Cohere Academy we have been deep into getting businesses ready and launched. But there is one thing I would like to talk about today.

So many people join excited and passionate about becoming a coach, healer, or teacher. Then as they get started they find it hard to launch their offers, they lack the confidence to close clients, and some never even make it to serving clients at all.

Why does that happen?

It all comes down to identity

Whenever we go through a period of change, it requires letting go of the past and stepping into our future self.

That change is scary. But how quickly we make the transition determines how fast we move and create the life we want.

I will share two examples from my own journey.

Two identity shifts

My first big shift came in 2015 when I went from the normal world to becoming a coach and online business owner. It was hard because I did not know anything about sales, marketing, leading, or building systems. It was all new and uncomfortable.

It took a couple of years to really find myself, and a lot of that was giving myself permission to take messy, imperfect action.

Then in 2020 I went from solopreneur to co-founder of Cohere, a software business. I did not even know what SaaS meant before that.

All I felt in the first year was who am I to do this. I had massive imposter syndrome and second guessed everything. Thankfully I had my husband Paul supporting me.

When I was able to fully step into the new identity, everything became easier. Moving forward, growing the business, and closing clients all became easier.

Claiming the right identity is more important than the strategies, tools, and tactics.

We spend a lot of time on this with our students inside Cohere Academy, and I believe the personal transformation is far more powerful than the tools.

So I would love you to ask yourself: what identity do you need to let go of, and are you ready to step into your new identity as an online entrepreneur?
